Saigon and Cu Chi 18-4-16

Today we were taken to Cu Chi, about 1 hour north from Saigon. This area is a memorial to the Vietnamese fighters and is famous for its network of underground tunnels where the Viet Cong hid. Rob and I went down along a short part of one tunnel.
The War Museum in Saigon was a harowing collection of photos taken during the war. Some of the worst were showing the effects of Agent Orange to both the countryside and the people.
The Reuniication Palace was formerly the President’s palace but was the end point of the NLF when they finally took Saigon in April 1975. A famous picture shows the NLF tanks coming through the gates near the central fountain.
