Not a bad view from our Luxor hotel window across the Nile to the Valley of the Kings, with the odd hot air balloon floating passed early in the morning!!
Probably the two most spectacular temples we visited were these two at Luxor. Karnak in particular was enormous – over 250 acres in extent, it is the largest temple complex ever built. It was linked to Luxor Temple for the important festival of Opet, built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramses II as a setting for the rituals of the festival.
