We flew to Singapore on the way to and from the sub-continent to both break up the journey and halve time differences as well as to re-familiarise ourselves to birding in the tropics. We were lucky enough to again have birding pal Leslie Fung to guide us for one day where we went again to the Central Catchment, Windsor Nature Park and Lorong Halus Wetlands. (Leslie guided us around for a very productive three days birding during our previous visit in 2017.) Highlight of the day with Leslie without doubt was the presence very close to the Windsor park boardwalk of a lovely blue-winged pitta who obliged by posing for many photos for the several photographers including ourselves.

Our other days in Singapore were spent in Pasir Ris Town Park close by our hotel as well as Pulau Ubin island and Singapore Botanical Gardens. It was fair to say these didn’t provide the bird varieties that we saw during our 2017 visit. However they did get us “tuned up” for Sri Lanka and Indi
