We picked an unfortunate time to visit the Queensland coast around Fraser Island and Hervey Bay. It rained heavily on most of our eight days there, making progress on Fraser Island very difficult to the extent that we cut short our stay to avoid being stranded there. Nevertheless we did see some interesting birds which we probably wouldn’t have if we’d stayed home in Melbourne.
