No Rain in Townsville

A week in and around Townsville (Queensland) with no rain and lovely sunny mid-20’s temps was in sharp contrast to the previous northern trip in May. We spent a couple of days in Paluma on Mt Spec surrounded by rain forest and some lovely rain forest birds that joined us on our deck for breakfast each morning!
Our remaining time was spend around Townsville, where some more enjoyable birding took place. The standout location was the Town Common where we went back a number of times, each one with interesting birds to photograph in very pleasant conditions.
We were able to fit in a day excursion by ferry to Magnetic Island which didn’t yield a great deal of new bird shots but was a very pleasant place to do some serious walking/climbing through quite enchanting scenery.
A small selection of bird shots are below……..
