Our first post-Covid overseas journey was our 10 day trip to Malaysia in October, where we went with guides Lee and Liew (both from Endemic Guides Malaysia) to a number of birding hot spots. These included Hulu Langat Lowland Forest and Kuala Selangor Mangrove Forest, Fraser’s Hill Montane Rainforest, Air Hitam Dalam Forest around Taiping, Merapoh, Taman Negara and Sungai Relau National Park and Bukit Tinggi Sub-Montane forest.
The birds we saw and photographed were in general wonderfully coloured – however getting clear pictures through forest foliage with sometimes very dim lighting conditions was certainly a challenge.
I have broken the posts of the journey into the four main regions, the first one being forests around Kuala Selangor, the second is Fraser’s Hill, third being around the Taiping/Ipoh region and the fourth being Merapoh and Bukit Tinggi.
