Following our stay in Crete, we left for Split to join up with our fellow sailors for our week-long journey along the Dalmatian coast. Split itself was a great place to stay for a few days before we began the sail. The waterfront was stunning, and the staggering wealth tied up in the moored yachts was incredible. Apart from the harbour, the other highlights were the Diocletian’s Palace and out of town, the Krka National Park with its incredible Skradinski Buk waterfall.
The Palace was built as the retirement home for 4th century Roman Emperor Diocletian and included the Cathedral of St Dominius (5th century and the world’s oldest working Catholic cathedral that has maintained its original structure).
