Back in Tanzania

Late December 2018 found us in Northern Tanzania again, this time with family travelling with us! – Nine people in total….which sometimes presented logistical challenges….
This time our focus wasn’t on birding, rather we were there to see the migration and as many animals as we could find in our 2 week expedition (the last 4 days of which were for recovery in Zanzibar!) through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire National Park, Ndutu Migration Camp and Lake Eyasi.
Generally we stayed in tented camps with very little electric supply apart from solar cells which meant it was very difficult to access internet and hence the blog is a bit of an after the event effort.
The pics are mostly of animals which were there in abundance…the few birds included are named though, mostly raptors which were large enough to catch the driver/guide’s eyes. A separate blog entry with more birds may follow soon. The lush green grasses were a surprising contrast with the dry brown  grass and vegetation that we saw on our previous trip which was at the end of the dry season.
Our last day was spent at Doha, Qatar, where we took a 5 hour excursion around the city and nearby desert, at speed in excess of 180km/hr!

  1. Looks great. HW was concerned about who took the photo of Linds et al taking photos of lions. 🙈

Looking forward to the ‘slide show’ when we come over next month.
